SMC Corporation
A GLOBAL LEADER FOR OVER 50 YEARS
Manufacture and sale of pneumatic components
SMC Corporation is a global leader in the manufacture of pneumatic components for industrial automation. Founded in Japan in 1959, the company now operates in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania, with 230 locations in over 50 countries and approximately 10,000 employees, underscoring its global reach and organizational strength.
Established in Italy since 1981, SMC Italia is regarded by its Japanese parent company as a model of excellence. With over 350 employees across its headquarters in Carugate (MI) and its manufacturing plant in Carsoli (AQ), the company relies on a network of approximately 40 dealers located throughout the country. This structure ensures comprehensive coverage and qualified technical support, combining the advantages of a multinational company with in-depth knowledge of the local market. The company’s UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification attests to the high quality standards that distinguish its operations.
The partnership between SMC and RTI S.r.l. began in 1983, when RTI became the distributor of SMC products throughout the Piedmont region. From the very beginning, RTI recognized the technological value of SMC’s solutions, introducing an innovative product line to the local market that was very well received by machine and plant manufacturers.
Since 1988, RTI has focused specifically on the Turin area and its province, and in 2014, it was recognized by SMC as a Master Distributor, confirming the results achieved and the strength of the business relationship built over time.

MAIN PRODUCTS

SMC ACTUATORS
Actuators are devices that produce linear or rotary motion, driven by compressed air via control valves. The linear version consists of a pneumatic cylinder, while the rotary version consists of a rotary actuator. With a product range of approximately 391,000 items, these components are used to move, secure, and lock parts in pneumatic systems. Key products include pneumatic cylinders, compact actuators, rodless cylinders, slides, rotary actuators, and automatic grippers.

DIRECTIONAL CONTROL VALVES
Directional control valves regulate the flow of fluids in pneumatic systems, determining the direction of flow. Versions actuated by electrical pulses are called solenoid valves, while those controlled by air pressure are pneumatic valves. The product range includes approximately 110,000 items, including pneumatic valves, manual valves, power valves, and solenoid valves, to meet a variety of application needs.

AIR LINE EQUIPMENT
Air line equipment performs essential functions to ensure the proper operation of control valves and pneumatic actuators. Filters remove dust and impurities from the compressor, regulators stabilize the pressure at the required level, and lubricators atomize oil to ensure smooth operation and longevity of the components. The product range includes filters, regulators, lubricators, modular FRL units, flow regulators, quick-connect fittings, and vacuum systems.

INDUSTRIAL FILTERS AND OTHER PRODUCTS
This segment of the SMC product range includes a wide variety of solutions, from air treatment devices and instrumentation components to hydraulic systems and industrial filters. A comprehensive offering designed to effectively meet a wide range of industrial application needs.
APPLICATIONS OF SMC CORPORATION PRODUCTS
SMC Corporation’s products are widely used in industrial automation systems, where reliability, precision, and operational continuity are essential requirements. Pneumatic and electro-pneumatic components, valves, cylinders, air treatment units, and vacuum solutions enable the control of linear and rotary movements, the management of pressure and flow rates, and the optimization of work cycles, thereby improving the efficiency and quality of production processes.
Thanks to their modular design and ease of integration, SMC solutions are suitable for both new and existing production lines in sectors such as automotive, electronics, packaging, food, pharmaceuticals, and robotics. The goal is to ensure precise motion control and efficient compressed air management, thereby reducing energy consumption, downtime, and maintenance costs, which enhances the plant’s competitiveness.
