RTI Electric Actuators

For smooth, reliable, and precise movement

RTI ELECTRIC ACTUATORS

About 25 years ago, RTI S.r.l. developed the first linear slide for handling special test components in the automotive industry. The results achieved quickly led to an investment in the development of a new electric linear solution capable of replacing pneumatic cylinders. RTI was among the pioneers in Italy in the production of electric actuators, now also known as electric cylinders.

Electric actuators are now widely used in numerous industrial applications and, thanks to their advantages in terms of energy efficiency and control, they often replace pneumatic and hydraulic systems. From the automotive and food industries to packaging and sheet metal fabrication, many processes incorporate solutions based on RTI electric actuators.

The current product line includes models with ball screws and trapezoidal screws, with diameters ranging from 12 to 63 mm and strokes of up to 1000 mm. The products are available in standard configurations or can be custom-built to meet specific application requirements.

Our long-standing experience has enabled us to select qualified partners for the supply of electrical control components. Actuators can be supplied without motors or complete with the required control systems. Design, manufacturing, and assembly are carried out entirely at our facilities in Turin, ensuring quality, precision, and reliability—the hallmarks of RTI’s “Made in Italy” products.

MAIN APPLICATIONS OF RTI ACTUATORS

Also known as electric cylinders, RTI electric actuators ensure precise motion and high positioning repeatability. The use of ball screws and trapezoidal screws allows for speeds exceeding 1 m/s. In the Heavy Duty versions, thrust forces can exceed 150 kN. Available with stepper, brushless, DC, and asynchronous motors.

Below are the main applications for RTI electric actuators, which are designed to ensure precision, reliability, and maximum flexibility in a wide range of industrial settings.

RTI actuators are used as replacements for and interchangeable with pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, in positioning systems, and for movements with constant torque or variable speed over the stroke. They are used in palletizers, electric presses, and screwdriving systems equipped with load cells and torque feedback loops, as well as in applications that incorporate magnetostrictive sensors for absolute positioning.

Other applications include handling using suction cups, controlling blade orientation in wind turbine systems, operating tube welding systems, moving carts, and controlling cutting operations in the sheet metal fabrication industry.
